You know we should be a bit concerned when our politicians are getting jacked in their house, on the way to the grocery store, and driving their car.
First, the most recent incident is Councilwoman Jean Quan who's running for mayor. She was just outside of Safeway getting ready to buy some milk, when a purse snatcher clumsily took her purse.
A couple of weeks ago, Councilman Ignacio De La Fuente's Fruitvale district home got burglarized. It was the second time in a year.
And who can forget a couple of years ago when State Senator Don Perata was carjacked at gunpoint from his state car in North Oakland.
What's going on? Can we blame the reduced police force? Is this a part of the Great Recession?
One things for sure, Quan and De La Fuente better be super nice to the cops. The two politicians incurred the wrath of the police's union for their stance on layoffs and the pension system.
For the rest of us, let's all keep safe.
